Social media is full of relentless commentators who thrive on making mountains out of molehills. Fri, 07 Dec 2018 09:04:07 +0000 Kevin Hart Accepts, Then Withdraws From Oscar Hosting Gig After Getting DRAGGED For Shady LGBT Jokes

 photo Screen Shot 2018-12-07 at 3.42.38 AM_zpssdlkcswj.png

Kevin Hart just gave us the most dramatic announcement & withdrawal we've seen in a while, all in 24 hours time. Before most people could even congratulate the comedian on nabbing the 2019 Oscars hosting gig, he's already gone over a couple clapback cliffs and pulled out. Here's why....

About a day ago, Kevin Hart's dream to host the Oscars had finally come true.

For years I have been asked if I would ever Host the Oscars and my answer was always the same...I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it’s suppose to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time....To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable. I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now. I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me & riding with me all this time....I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one. I appreciate the @TheAcademy for the opportunity ....now it’s time to rise to the occasion #Oscars

And it lasted all of 36 hours.

Folks didn't forget that back in 2009 (and beyond), he said some pretty messed up things that can certainly be seen as homophobia and insulting toward the LGBT community. And the tweets and comments on the Academy's social media pages were coming in HOT.

Lots of folks defended him as well with sentiments like these, saying "political correctness" is killing this country:

Then came a series of positive videos & posts from Kevin to combat the social media lashing he was getting:

Stop looking for reasons to be negative...Stop searching for reasons to be angry....I swear I wish you guys could see/feel/understand the mental place that I am in. I am truly happy people....there is nothing that you can do to change that...NOTHING. I work hard on a daily basis to spread positivity to all....with that being said. If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me. I’m almost 40 years old and I’m in love with the man that I am becoming. You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & YOU MATURE. I live to Love....Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive. Please....What’s understood should never have to be said. I LOVE EVERYBODY.....ONCE AGAIN EVERYBODY. If you choose to not believe me then that’s on you....Have a beautiful day

Then, he'd had enough. Apparently the Academy caught wind of all the hoopla going on and asked him to just apologize. He said Nah. And withdrew as he host late Thursday evening.

Similar to his "explanation" after that cheating scandal he got caught red handed in thanks to a mirror and a hidden camera, he seemed to blame everybody else. He called out "trolls" for not dropping the subject and just letting him live.

Almost immediately after saying he withdrew from the gig because he didn't want to "apologize again" at the request of the Academy, he went and did just that on Twitter.

Not sure what the purpose of all the theatrics were if you were just going to say exactly what you said you didn't want to say.

He could have just apologized/re-explained again (despite folks saying they don't ever recall him doing so the first time, at least not fully), and then carried he hell on with hosting. But when pride and ego get in the way after a social media lashing, you get someone quitting the job of a lifetime.

Well, at least he has the huge crowd in Melbourne he performed for Thursday night to cushion the fall. And he's still on his multi-million dollar Irresponsible Tour.
